RETIRED COLUMBUS TEACHERS NEEDED

Posted 3/3/208

The Columbus Coaching Project, with Instructional Coaches in Columbus' 58 lowest-performing schools, is fully in place for this school year (2007-2008).       We are taking applications and answering questions about the coaching initiative, which is assisting and supporting Columbus teachers, and helping interpret data and planning classroom strategies for improvement based on data provided by the OAT's, and quarterly benchmarks. Remember, we are looking predominantly for retired teachers/educators who will work at least 3 days a week for $35 an hour as independent contractors. We are looking for personable people who have great people skills as well as the ability to assist teachers specifically in reading and math literacy.

Posted 9/19/2007  The Access to Benefits Coalition, Ohio Chapter is looking for a person who would like to be an Americorps/VISTA volunteer starting this fall, through September of 2008.  The pay is modest (It really is a VOLUNTEER position), but the rewards and experience are great!   ABC has done well in the past with VISTA Volunteers who are willing to engage in a very organized effort to reach out to Medicare beneficiaries and help them become eligible for Medicare Part D Prescription Drug Benefit's Low Income Subsidy.  We need an organizer -- someone who can go into various counties in Ohio and work with current volunteers and advocates for older Americans and people with disabilities, and recruit new volunteer to help us make a dent in the still approximately 70,000 Ohioans who could be getting financial help to pay for their prescription benefits.

The Volunteers stipend is approximately $860/month. Federal taxes are withheld from that, but not state.  Leads to about $380 every two weeks take-home. There is health coverage, and a cash or educational stipend at the end of the year of service. ABC reimburses mileage and other related expenses.

If you know anyone who might be interested in doing this, please forward this e-mail.  They can contact me at the number below.

They can learn more about the Access to Benefits Coalition by going to www.accesstobenefits.org.  They can learn more about Americorps/VISTA by going to www.americorps.org
