COSI Needs your help,

For our Columbus City School Day with 5th grade students.

COSI is looking for engaging volunteers to assist with a special event with Columbus City Schools and their 5th grade students.

We need five volunteers per day.
Students will be viewing a specially created Planetarium show that covers space science content for 5th grade.

After viewing the planetarium program, the students will have time to explore the building and also participate in engaging science activities located at carts stationed around the science center.

Each of these activities is specially designed to reinforce content learned earlier in the school year and will also be on the 5th grade AIR Assessment.

Activity content includes:

Sound vibrations, Light Reflection, Light Refraction, Light Absorption and Heat, Inertia, Food chains, Constellations, Space Tools, and Planetary Distances.
*Training will be provided and volunteers DO NOT need a deep knowledge in science to participate.

Training will take place each day from 9:00 – 9:45.
The event times are from 9:00AM – 1:30 PM.
The dates for the event are:
February 2017 – 8, 9, 10, 15, 16, 17, 22, 23, 24
March 2017 – 1, 2, 3, 8, 9, 10

We are also keeping March 15, 16, and 17 as make-up days in the event of a school cancellation.

To volunteer or for questions contact: Robin Deems – rdeems@cosi.org or 614.228.2674 X. 2357.
