Why tour a cemetery?? As one of the oldest cemeteries in Ohio,
Green Lawn
serves as the resting place for
well-known & influential notables who made significant contributions to
Columbus, the state of Ohio and the entire country. Lucas Sullivant, Eddie
Rickenbacker, James Poindexter, P W Huntington, Gordon Battelle, Hannah Neil,
James Thurber and his wife, Mamie, to name just a few. We will take a
historical bus tour of
Green Lawn
Cemetery, a treasured
Columbus
Landmark, and learn more
about Columbus’s deep history.
The park is
well known for its unusual and exceptional monuments, mausoleums and chapel as
well as its wildlife, arboretum and birding.
From there
the bus will take us to
Schmidt’s
Sausage Haus and Restaurant.
Schmidt’s has provided great food
and hospitality in the heart of
German Village
for over a century. Here
we will enjoy a buffet of the tastiest of German cuisine and then return us to
our cars at Green Lawn.
What better place to spend time just before Halloween than in a cemetery established in 1848 who knows. . .
