CEA-R Mission Statement
CEA-R's mission is to provide retired teachers of the Columbus Ohio City Schools with activities, experiences, and knowledge that will keep them aware of what is happening in the community, around Ohio, in the legislature, with the Columbus Education Association and with Columbus City Schools.
It is a highly organized group who work diligently to provide members with rewarding activities and useful information.
CEA-R currently has more than 2,000 members.
Volunteers Desparately Needed
A group of Somalia adults on Columbus' west side are in need of volunteers to help with English instruction.
They are eager to learn our language and would be so grateful for any help. They would be appreciative of any amount of time that
you could volunteer as English language tutor. The instruction would be held at 3300 Sulllivant Avenue. They are anxious to learn English so they can fill out jobs applications and become employed.
To learn more about the program and to volunteer, call Marilyn Allen at 614-299-4841 or email mrasecond@yahoo.com

Sorosis, A Literary Society
Sorosis is a community of women who study literature and the arts. The Columbus chapter was founded in 1897 by Flavia Canfield, the wife of the President of The Ohio State University, to foster intellectual growth at a time when such opportunities were limited.
The Sorosis legacy continues with monthly meetings based on an annual theme emphasizing the achievements of women. This year's theme is the Columbus Bicentennial. Members have been presenting reports on Columbus Founding Figures (Mothers), as well as central Ohio female performers, artists, authors and poets. Past themes have included Literary Prizes and Classics of Literature.
If you are a woman who enjoys researching and sharing ideas with an emphasis on literature, please contact Patricia Reagan, Professor Emeritus, Department of Economics, Ohio State University at reagan.3@osu.edu, or Betty Morss, National Board Certified Teacher, retired, Columbus City Schools at bamorss17@gmail.com.
Spring Message from President, Judy Valentine
Please note as you read this brochure that our general meeting will be on June 20, 2013 at The Boat House (old Confluence). The annual elections for president, vice-president, secretary and eight at-large representatives will be held at this time. The program committee has planned a variety of fun-filled events for the summer months. We hope that you will find a number of the activities that appeal to you. Be sure to watch deadlines and get your reservations in on time.
